Highlands serves students in Pre-kindergarten through sixth grade in Mission, Kansas. Today, 300 students attend the school.

Teacher excellence and parent involvement are key to the success of Highlands students. When students complete sixth grade, Highlands students attend Indian Hills Middle School and Shawnee Mission East High School.

Highlands first opened in 1952. A new facility opened in 2010 at 6200 Roe.
